April Event Rumors

1.     It’s about Feast of Fools time ain’t it? Good time to be a prankster, bad time to be a victim I reckon.

2.     I heard some lady wrote a sternly worded letter to the head of the railways, and that's why the trains aren’t blowing up!

3.     SPRING!!!  Tribe of Seasons swear it is real this time… anyone taking bets?

4.     People keep talking about mines as if they’re safe.  We’ve been through this before ya’ll showed up, and the earth falling out from under our feet ain’t no fun.  Makes farming a might hard.  Eatin’ is more important than mine collapses.

5.     There are murderers in town.  The Ironworks may have to do something.

6.     Who was spooking the Corvids on Saturday?  I hear he came straight out of their caravan, fancy as you please, and started pulling them away one by one, scaring them to bits.

7.     Darwinist are planning a huge party to celebrate the glow!  

8.     Better travel in groups… I heard people walking alone get their shit stolen

9.     That Asher fella likes to hide out in the forest a lot, skulking around.  Heard that one of the travellin’ scroungers got jumped and lost all his scrounge.  Bet that baby-eater did it.

10.  The farmers are starting to feel the influx into town as they’re getting ready to start planting.

11.  The lake has finally thawed out.  You know what happens when the lake thaws?

12.  I hear they're building Steel Horse Crossing back up with all the new folks. Maybe they'll build a brothel!

13.  I keep hearing about a shipyard.  Wonder what’s going on over there.

14.  What’s a Helldiver?  I keep hearing there was some kind of “run” last trade, but what were they running from?

15.  With the Fallow Hope faction running around near town, I wonder when they’ll show up for these psions.

16.  Randomly baptized folks seem to be a regular thing up here.  I wonder what’ll happen when big wigs come around testing folks to see how well they fit their new britches.

17.  Overheard on the train:
Guy 1: "I hear there are a lot of hot chicks in Steel Horse."
Guy 2: "Only if you like gearheads or dead 8 year olds."

18.  What's that smell?!? Is it the cistern or septics? Wait... where do septics come from?!

19.  I hear there's a new watering hole in Steel Horse. I also hear they may be looking to get them some more guards. Maybe they pay in hooch!

20.  Sounds like they’re serious about these laws.  Someone almost got into serious trouble last trade when the Admiral showed up.

Example Character Sheet

With all the new players that we have in DR:WI we want to make sure that everyone knows what your player sheet should look like when you turn it in to logistics at the end of game.  If you do it correctly, then you won't have to worry about your sheet being incorrect at your next game!

Here is your typical end of the event character sheet:

Here are the important things to note:

  1. Make sure everything is legible.  If we can't read it, we can't record it.  We aren't going to chase you down to try and figure out what you wrote.  This also means you need to take care of your character sheet.  If it got wet or torn up beyond recognition we won't be able to record it.  This is your character's soul, take good care of it.
  2. Everything you learn needs to be documented under the skill section.  Include the player number of the person who taught you, or write 'self' if you self taught it.  This includes new professions.
  3. If you gave yourself points in health or mind please put down how much you changed it for that game (+2 in this case) and write your new total in under 'current'.  Please don't total the change over the life of the character, we just need what you spent *that weekend*.  You can include the change down in the skills list if you like, but that is not mandatory.
  4. Donations given for AP or any other AP rewards need to be documented on your sheet so they don't get lost.  Make sure the person who gave you the AP signs off on it.
  5. Diseases need to be listed, but they also need to be cleared if cured.  If we don't see 'cured' on your disease, you will have it on your sheet for next game.   The same goes for derangements.  If they are not removed, you will have to find a cure/fix again next game to fix it. 
  6. Keep track of how much XP you have spent.  If you overspend you won't get your skill.  We will try to make sure you get all your skills/professions first, then your mind and body points if you have points left, but if you critically overspend, you may not get even those.  This means you will have to be retaught those skills next game when you have the build for it.  (Sometimes that learning just doesn't stick the first time.)
  7. If you are baptized into a faith be sure to record the priest's player number.

Don't forget, players with Advanced Membership have access to their character sheet through the database!  You'll be able to see changes made soon after we make them.

April Pre-Registration is Open!

Pre-registration for April is now live!

We are doing things a little bit differently this time around to make things easier for you and for us. When you pre-register you will notice it will ask you to create a check in request on the database. Use the link provided to do so.

If you don't know what your log in information is or if you have any questions, please email wisconsin.dystopiarising@gmail.com and we can help you sort it out.

Once you have created a check in request you can return to the pre-reg page on the website and complete your transaction. You'll be all set to go from there!

Save on shipping and pick them up at game!  You can order them before game, pay for them online and then receive them with your character sheet during pre-registration.  We will also have books available during registration for you to purchase as well.

February's Blood Drive

BLOOD DRIVE:

One of the greatest part of the DR community is it's willingness to give back to the world. One of the ways we do that is through charity drives.

This month many of the chapters are participating in a blood drive, Wisconsin included! Take a picture of yourself giving blood or helping a friend give blood if you can't yourself, and send it to DRNJCoord@gmail.com for some yummie AP!

50 AP for blood and 100 AP for Platelets.

So come on Wisconsin, let's see you bleed!

DR:WI Mailing Policy

Ever had an itch to send something to someone in game? Did you know that you can, in fact, do just that? Each chapter has its own rules on how to accomplish it, and below relates to Steel Horse Crossing.

First, a point of order: Dystopia Rising was fashioned as a game that is played on site and in the flesh. It is meant to have no downtime, and things that happen should happen at game. It's one of the primary tenets of our game world. So how does mail work?

We ask that you send all mail coming into Steel Horse to the following PO Box. Anything being sent here will be properly delivered to their recipient at the next game, and be accomplished via In-Game means.

Why is this important? The answer is twofold. First, it ensures we're playing by the intentions of the game - all gameplay happens at game, not "off camera". The second, and perhaps even more important, is that we have ways and means for our game to deliver the mail. It involves players, and their characters, facilitating an in game purpose. You are helping not only yourself, but others around you, play the game and get into more roleplay. As directors, we appreciate anyone offering the players in SHC an opportunity for more roleplay - after all, that's why we play the game, right?
