Financial Institutions of Steel Horse Crossing
There are six organizations in the area that function as a major driving force within the local economy. Per the Rulebook, a character with the Proficient Financial Influence Skill may choose, at Check In, to gamble local currency by investing in a given Institution. Based on how well the Institution has been doing (whether PCs have helped or hindered their interests), the Character may gain or lose their invested currency. Additionally, a character with the Master Financial Influence Skill may choose to ally with a given Institution and submit an Action request the month before game for a Financial Module that can result in being paid.
Locally, a character may also choose 1 Financial Institution to affiliate with in order to gain access to that Institution’s Buy List. Characters with the Professional Focus Achievement of Fiscal Mysticist may also choose a second. A notation will be marked on your character sheet with Affiliation: [Institution Name] for reference. A character may change their Affiliation after 3 months have passed. All Buy List purchases must be made with local currency, and are limited to 1 purchase per tier per event regardless of the number of Affiliations possessed. All Buy List Items are only valid at DR: Wisconsin events, and do not require an Affiliation to use unless otherwise noted.
First Bank of Steel Horse Crossing
The First Bank of Steel Horse Crossing is relatively new to the area, but has been greeted with enthusiasm by those who prefer to deal in physical currency. Overseen by a Board of Trustees, the First Bank deals primarily in high-level financial matters such as investments and loans. A popular bar conversation topic involves how the Bank should utilize Scrap as their basis of currency, often with local Elitariat arguing loudly and vaguely about more abstract concepts such as “market forces.”

Great Lake Trading Company
Born out of a combination of former Ironworks naval sailors, lake trading across the waters, and the very legal (and likely some illegal) privateering sanctioned on the waters, the Great Lake Trading Company was formed to take advantage of a void of productivity following the fall of the Ironworks. The GLTC provides a great number of services including open trade, protection, escort, and salvage operations upon the water. Some even rumor that they have kept up the tradition of privateering under the black flag, though the ties between the rumors and the institution never seem to have a solid enough foundation for a true accusation.

May spend 10 Mind to deliver one use of poison via next attempted melee Strike. Poisons loaded this way take 5 minutes for each beforehand and must have the Knife’s name written on their cards.
Bloom Industries
Bloom Industries has been a staple in the scientific community for some time and has a long history of achievements in research and development of local and foreign flora. In short, if you want to know anything about plants top to bottom, Bloom Industries has already done some extensive research in the area. They formerly worked for the Ironworks almost exclusively in the local area but were otherwise fully funded and self-directed. With the Ironworks fallen, they have chosen to stay rooted in the local area and continue their outreach across the Wastes in order to learn more about the wonders of natural (and perhaps unnatural) plant life.

Helldiver Association
One of the older institutions in the overall region, the Helldiver Association is best known for their society membership who jump into adverse conditions to ensure safe living for those near the hellscape that randomly appears over the summers in different locations. They also serve a very different purpose as an institution, however, as they are also the premiere company to hire when one needs information about local areas, dig sites, mining, ancient artifacts, and other relics from days past. Their knowledge of the general world is unparalleled. The Helldiver’s Society is a small group of dedicated people that help others and are often supported by the larger Helldiver Association via resources and information.

Labor Union
Formerly headed by the Ironworks Brewing Collective, the Labor Union has consistently been a source of community work and development in the production sectors. With the Ironworks pushed back, the IBC has stepped down as de facto leadership and cemented their relationship with other production sources. The Rooftop Farmers Association, the Mining Guild, the Livestock Ranching Federation, and several other groups that are familiar faces in the area have all agreed to a loose partnership for the betterment of the overall production of the region.

Driftless Area Hunting Lodge
D.A.H. Lodge is a collection of hunters, conservationists, researchers, and other hobbyists from the most survivalist Landsmen to the glampiest Elitariat, all united by their ardent enthusiasm for nature. Recently drawn to Steel Horse Crossing by the abundance of wildlife and possibility for adventure, they have done their best to ingratiate with the locals and get involved in the town through education and wildlife management. With the construction of their lodge complete, they cannot wait to get their hands dirty and explore.
